MolyXers in Minnesota!

I had a wonderful time in Minnesota over the last few days with Claudio and Marty Harris (our gracious host and the founder of our incredible project). It was a bit surreal meeting these guys for the first time, yet knowing them so well from moly_x...it was much more like seeing old friends rather than people I’d never met in the flesh before.

Talkin’ Moly_X with Marty at MCBA

Last night we had a wonderful Q&A session with Roz Stendhal’s Visual Journal Collective at the Moly_X exhibit at Minnesota Center for Book Arts. The ladies were all very enthusiastic and several have already expressed interest in joining the fun.

Working on Nicole’s book at Marty’s house with Claudio

Sadly I was not able to finish Nicole’s book in time to send it off with Claudio today (Too much fun with ‘The Band’ as Claudio was calling us). But I will get it done before I skip town.

I encourage anyone within driving distance of Minneaopolis to try and stop by the MCBA show before it comes down on March 6th. It’s truly inspiring to see so many of these amazing books up together at once.

Roberts Moly

So , I'm ready. I had worked in the last days with Roberts portrait. As I wrote before I wanted to try acrylics. I was inspired by the nice works from Ramires and Tim.
I started painting a middle tone background and from them working the dark and light areas. I struggled with the tecnic but I 'm quite happy with the result. I was really surprice! I guess I made many mistakes by working but I learned a lot with them to. The good thing about acrylic is that you can always paint over it.
I left the painting to rest for a few days and then I make some corrections I found appropiate. (I watched on a mirror and also compare the photo with the drawing backwards) I draw myself with a golden caligraphic marker and made some skratches with a cutter to get Roberts beard.

Heidi's Moly

I finished also Heidi's Moly. I worked on pencil in order to blend my drawing with Ramires..The bushes and heidi's photo give me the idea of the flying butterflies. I left my portrait unfinish but recognizable to avoid stealing the attention from Heidi's portrait.

Dana´s Moly

I finished Dana´s Moly yesterday night.
I was inspired by her new haircut :-)
I have to say that the previous works from Tim and Ramires are very good integrated... mine looks a little isolated.. but I choose to left some space inbetween since ramires portrait of himself could get lost.
For Dana´s hair I used some gold dust mixed with watercolour, the other tools are sepia, pitt pen and colour pencils.

summer 2010

Hi guys!

Maybe because I still don´t have many friends in the emirates I hang arround a lot in internet, checking what my virtual friends do. I was very happy to read that Dana go a haircut and that inspired me for the drawing in her Moleskine!

I´m very curious what everybody is doing this sommer.... or winter depending of the hemisphere you are. So if everyone can post a few words with a picture would be a nice way to get to now us better.. get more inspiration..and break the silence that from time to time fell into the blog

I will try to make a picture today of the work in progress...of Dana´s moly. I used to have an idea for Heidi´s but since it was a long time ago since I did the sketch...it bored me now, I will think about someting diferent.

Finished!

My entry in my book is finally finished. I made a little goof when I made a sign in page and had some marker bleed onto the first page so I opted to patch my error with scrapbook paper, luckily I had some handy that worked out so well for what I was going for.

Self Portrait Entry for My Moleskine

I'm happy with how it turned out given the circumstances, and cannot wait to get my next book! This one will be off to Tim tomorrow!
