Summer 2010 - Oh, how the time flies!

Hey gang! Summer has been flying along as of late and I've barely had time to make a mark on any of the projects I've got lined up (Thankfully, I don't have any molies for this group that I'm holding hostage).

Just this last weekend I went camping with several old friends from high school and attended our 15-year reunion (which was surprisingly fun!).

I did get a rare chance to draw with a willing student, Gabe, the son of one of my best friends, Mike Cerroni. Mike died tragically in a snow-mobile accident in 2006 so it was really amazing to spend some time with Gabe like this. He's an incredible kid (and he did an awesome portrait of me! Wish I'd taken a pic of it to share, bummer).

I've also been training for a triathlon coming up in September (my third, so far), and this year I finally broke down and bought a REAL road bike! No more getting passed by geezers and 12-year olds!

Hope everyone else is having a fun and productive summer! Looking forward to seeing some new work here soon.
UPDATE: Almost finished with my first commissioned painting! Pretty pleased with it:

Hi guys!
I came from Tarragona a week ago, I attended a work-camp there. We were divided into 3 groups - artistic, theatre and music, and we had to prepare something for the city in two weeks. The town of Tarragona provided for our group a wonderful wall. It was directly in the centre and it was a touristic point of the city. The place was called Mediterranean balcony - the city itself was quite high above the sea and from this huge balcony you could look over the sea. So it was a big responsibility to create something nice on the wall, because we didn't want to destroyed this nice touristic point :)

and this is the result! It s not exactly what we wanted to do, but it was very difficult to agree on something together (we were 10 in the group). Anyways, it was a great experience for me :)

summer 2010

Hi guys!

Maybe because I still don´t have many friends in the emirates I hang arround a lot in internet, checking what my virtual friends do. I was very happy to read that Dana go a haircut and that inspired me for the drawing in her Moleskine!

I´m very curious what everybody is doing this sommer.... or winter depending of the hemisphere you are. So if everyone can post a few words with a picture would be a nice way to get to now us better.. get more inspiration..and break the silence that from time to time fell into the blog

I will try to make a picture today of the work in progress...of Dana´s moly. I used to have an idea for Heidi´s but since it was a long time ago since I did the sketch...it bored me now, I will think about someting diferent.

Who has what?

It's been a while since we've heard an update. So, I made this little diagram to see if we can figure out where the books are. If you see anything wrong on here please let me know (and if anyone wants to do a fancy-pants electronic kind, go for it!). If you have a book please check in and let everyone know where how you are coming in the comments. Thanks everyone!

next Moly on the way

Ramires's Moly is ready to be sent to Suzette. Suzette is it alright with you? or should I wait 'till you finish Omar's Moly? I hope it arrived sound and safe. D
Btw I just brought home 2 new Molys, one is the large japanese moleskine for the next exchange and the second is the one for watercolors. Do you have any experiences with them? I am particularly curious about the watercolor notebook. I have this idea, that i will train my skills with watercolors during my workcamp in Barcelona.

Julia Kay's Portrait Party

So, while we’re all waiting on the next masterpiece in one of our wandering molies, I thought I would share a cool new flickr group I stumbled upon called Julia Kay’s Portrait Party. I wrote a fairly substantial post over on my blog with some of my favorites. Or you can just click through to start checking out all the amazing portraits.
Omar has already joined the party (and I’ll get to your portrait soon, my friend), anyone else?

Here’s one I did of Moly_X founder, Marty Harris:

UPDATE: I did portraits of Omar and Danica for the Portrait Party too!

concept

Hi guys!
I just want to let you know, that I still have Ramires's book and finally I have time to draw. This is my first sketch for the new sketchbook. I have been thinking about the papers in Omar's post and i decided to fold them into paper cranes! ;)

And this is the result ;) I'm not happy with my expression, but I like it in general :)

Heidi's book

How Tim said here, I like to do small paintings in Moly_X books, but this is a very interesting book with beautiful drawings and I did preferred to keep this line also making a drawing using only my mechanical pencil with 2b. It is a pure draw, without sfumattos or effects, I did only what the graphite can do toutching the paper. Heidi, I hope you enjoy. Sorry for my late.
