Lars Käker

Lars is a virtuoso artist from Germany who is following our blog, I recommend a visit to his excellent work on his blog.

He has painted portraits with a series of excellent technique and using the same palette, atmosphere and light, so that the collective result is as good as each individual picture.

Our books so far... (6/11)

So, it’s been 3 months since I did one of these and we’ve only had a couple new entries. A little bit discouraging but the books look great and I still can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with next.

Can everyone please check in and let us know which books you have and what you’re up to? Thanks.

Sketching Nicole

I started working some ideas for Nicoles Moly... I really admire her work and it makes me feel very humble. So I got this idea to portrait her as a saint or a queen and I start doodling around, so this is one of the ideas I have.
I am quite creative this days and I would like to have a real moly in my hands. Heidi: why don't you send me Danicas moly? I promise I will finish it very fast (2 weeks)and I send you back again if you still have not finish it.(I am in Canada for the next 50 days)

MolyX Portraits @MCBA

I‘m not sure why I didn‘t post this ages ago. Maybe I thought the video was too shaky or something, but whatever. It's here now. You can see Robert‘s book in the top right of the case. Enjoy!

Interview with Nicole

Emily O’Marra by Nicole Little

Over on the new blog for Julia Kay’s Portrait Party, Kai conducted a nice interview with our own Nicole Little. Check it out.

I love the portrait party. It's one of the most active and fun flickr groups around. Check it out if you haven’t already. (Click here to see all my JKPP portraits. Including Danica, Omar, Nicole and moly_x founder, Marty Harris)

In the mail tomorrow

Sending this to Nicole :) - My idea was to draw it as though I was taking a candid picture of us. (ie. holding the camera out myself)

Heidi's Moly.

Alright, here's a progress shot but I have began to color Heidi's Moly.

Not going to lie, this was a very intimidating book to work in. All the entries leading up to mine were done in pencil only and very beautiful. I began mine in pencil telling myself maybe I should add minimal color but I got out my markers and gave it a shot.

Unfortunately the color I tried to use for my skin didn't quite turn out well. Not sure if it is running out or not but it was streaky, and darker than I wanted. I always color test my markers on a piece of paper so I know what to expect but I consistently forget that the moleskine paper is much different.

I'll work with it a bit more and it'll be sent out on Friday at the latest.

chart

Hi guys, I start sketching some ideas for the portrait of Nicole. I still don't have the book, but I prefer to think now before I get the book, that way I will win some time. At the same time is a way to avoid feeling detach from the Molly exchange. Drawing Nicole is not an easy task. I found a lot of wedding fotos where she looks wonderful, but to fit in the book I have to invent another story. The diffcult part with this portrait exchange is the selfportrait, you get tired with the time. I guess I will try to hide myself in the picture and people should find me.
By the way I would like to ask if Heidi could you send me Danicas Molly? I know that I am the last in the row. But I will like to finish my last portrait. I have done many months ago a beautiful sketch of our portraits and I will like to do it in the Moleskine before I get more complicate in my life again. I promise to the group be fast a give to the next one inmeadiatly. What you say?

The postman visited me today!!

It is a beautiful and challenging book, I will strive to maintain the high level.
I've seen this in Minneapolis, but I do not tire of saying how beautiful is the work of Nicole, and Tim was also lovely. I love the idea of the book on the table to make small doodles.
Thanks for the gift Tim :-))))
Hi guys,
I have no book, or sketches to share with you, but I want you to notice this project:

In Germany

Hi Guys,

In my way to Canada I'm spending 1 week in Germany. I am doing some drawings of the ballet company of the Staatstheater in Hanover.
I'm getting a little bored without a book. I had already done an sketch for Danica's Molly... I waiting for months for that book.... I would love to do it in acrylic again... it is a surealistic image...and I really happy with the idea. ...I will start thinking in Nicole's book as soon as I arrive in Canada. Hey, Nicole! maybe I can meet you when I'm in Canada.
Anybody knows when we get Roberts book back from the exhibition?
